“Netanyahu: Reinforcements May Be Requested from Greece and Other Countries for the Fires

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated today that he is considering requesting reinforcements from Greece and other countries to combat the fires in the Jerusalem area.

Fires broke out this morning in forested areas due to a heatwave and later spread.

Police evacuated residents from several villages about 20 km west of Jerusalem, while firefighters were deployed in the area to try to control the fire.

Speaking at the fire department headquarters, Netanyahu instructed his services to contact ‘Greece and other neighboring countries’ if necessary to combat the fires.

According to images from the French Press Agency from the area, several rescue aircraft have been deployed to the scene.

‘The Israeli police, border police, firefighters, rescue services, the Nature and Parks Authority, local security services, and other emergency services continue to respond to the spread of the fires,’ the police stated in an announcement.”
