The Chinese president, Xi Jinping, today criticized the “Cold War mentality” and “acts of intimidation” adopted by him in international relations, in his opening speech at the Tianjin (north) summit, attended by some twenty foreign leaders, notably from Eurasia, including the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
President Xi Jinping advocated for a world order based on justice and fairness. “We must promote historical perspective on World War II and oppose any mentality of cold war or confrontation of alliances, acts of intimidation,” he opined.
