Just hours after Iran delivered its latest response to the United States’ 14-point proposal via Pakistan, details of Tehran’s revised proposal were revealed through leaks, according to reports. The proposal includes a series of new terms and demands.

Leaks to the Arab media outlets “Al Arabiya” and “Al Hadath” on Monday report that Iran requested a long-term, multi-phase ceasefire, alongside a political framing of the agreement that would ensure the country’s “dignity.”

In addition, the leaks indicate that Tehran proposed a gradual and secure reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, with guarantees for a role for Pakistan and Oman in any incidents in the region, while suggesting separating the issue of the maritime corridor from the complexities of the nuclear file.

Transfer of uranium to Russia

According to the same leaks, the Iranian side agreed to a long-term “freeze” of its nuclear program instead of the complete dismantling of facilities, on the condition that highly enriched uranium, estimated at 440 kilograms, would be transferred to Russia instead of the United States.

Regarding compensation, sources report that Iran backed down, instead requesting economic concessions.

The above details emerged after a statement from a source in Pakistan said the country delivered the revised Iranian plan to the United States on Sunday night. The same source emphasized that “both sides continue to change their terms,” according to Reuters.

For its part, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Tehran had delivered its response to US remarks regarding its latest proposal.

Pakistan optimistic about bringing both sides back to the table

Despite escalating rhetoric between Iran and the United States, as well as threats from Donald Trump, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed optimism about the possibility of a new round of talks between the two sides in Islamabad.

Sharif, whose country has been leading mediation efforts for months, said on Monday: “We are making every possible effort to ensure lasting peace” between Iran and the United States. He also stressed that Islamabad is optimistic about holding a new round of talks between the two sides.

Meanwhile, an Iranian source revealed that the Iranian text delivered to Pakistan focused on ending the war and confidence-building measures with the United States. The source also claimed that the US had agreed to lift sanctions on Iranian oil, according to the Tasnim news agency.

The previous Iranian plan

It is recalled that Iran’s previous plan, which was rejected by Washington, provided for the lifting of all sanctions on Tehran and the release of frozen funds and assets abroad.

In addition, it included recognition of Tehran’s right to uranium enrichment, regardless of suspending the process for a number of years — a condition on which the Iranian side reportedly showed relative flexibility.

At the same time, Tehran rejected the transfer of highly enriched uranium to the United States and insisted that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz not return to its pre-war state following the escalation of the conflict with the US and Israel on February 28, and it demands compensation for attacks that targeted its territory.
