Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama was accused by the former Prime Minister of Albania, Sali Berisha, of being the initiator of the plot for the arrest of the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleris.
He even revealed details of how, for a fee from the Albanian Services, the Police set up the trap. Berisha, in an interview with the syri.tv television station, accused the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office of staging Beleris’ arrest and that their accomplice was paid from secret funds in the amount of 700,000 lek (about 7,000 euros).
The Albanian former Prime Minister is named the man who tried to trap Fredi Beleris, saying that he is Arsen Rama, who was paid the above amount by the “Special Secret Funds of the Police”.
Naming the Police Director Avlonas and the head of the Crime Prosecution Department in the Albanian Police, he accused them of acting contrary to the law on the management of funds.
The reward of the particular Police collaborator was paid by money order from the police fund and was classified as a state secret. Therefore – as argued by Berisha – the way in which Arsene Rama acted with a reward of 700,000 Lek from the Police, invalidates his statements before the Court.
Berisha further argues that under a specific article of the Code of Criminal Procedure it is provided that a criminal act must not be caused by inciting actions, inducing a person to commit a crime, which he would not have done if there had been no incitement on the part of the police through an accomplice. The Albanian former Prime Minister also requests a legal investigation of this case and the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry in the Parliament to examine the case which, among other things, has also affected relations with Greece.
Sali Berisha stated in his interview that the whole case is provocative and behind the trap against Beleris, which brought Albania into confrontation with its neighbors, is Edi Rama himself.
