International news agency referred to yesterday’s Twitter exchange which took place between Greek Prime Minister and Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu wondering about why Greek PM chose this way to attack Turkey and why he deleted his tweets when he saw that things became serious.
“Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras sparred over the downing of a Russian jet with his Turkish counterpart, Ahmet Davutoglu, in a Twitter exchange that underscored the challenge of European Union moves to relaunch talks aimed at Turkey’s EU accession” Bloomberg reports in an article titled ‘Tsipras Pokes at Turky on Twitter Over Downing of Russian Jet’.
The British newspaper The Guardian also referred to the incident wondering about why Mr. Tsipras deleted his tweets and only from its English version:“A highly unusual online exchange has taken place on Twitter between the prime ministers of Greece and Turkey before the former deleted his tweets – but only from the English version of his account.”
BBC writes that ‘Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has attacked his Turkish counterpart on Twitter after the downing of a Russian plane, prompting an admonishing reply’ including also comments posted by Twitter users.
Moreover, correspondents of AFP and Spiegel also expressed their wandering on Greek PM’s actions with Danny Kemp of AFP talking about ‘Incredible series of tweets from Tsipras to Turkish PM’ and Mathieu von Rohr of Spiegel magazine stating ‘Bizzare. The tweets have been deleted’.
Russian media also referred to the incident while, even though they praised Tsipras’s actions, they also wander why he did that stating also that the tweets were deleted under unspecified reasons.
