University of Patras: Third case of meningitis – 20 year old student intubated

The young man was transferred to Agios Andreas Hospital in serious condition

The health authorities of Patras have raised the alarm after the third case of meningitis in a row.

According to information from ERT, it is a 20-year-old university student, who was found by his parents at home in a difficult condition.

The young man was taken to the Agios Andreas Hospital in serious condition and then transferred to the University Hospital in Patras, where he is being treated in an intensive care unit.

On the occasion of the new incident, the Governor of the 6th health district said he would contact the rectorial authorities to determine what actions to undertake.

It is recalled that this is the third case of meningitis detected in a student of the University of Patras in recent times.

The first case was recorded in mid-January in a first-year student from Crete of the Department of Naval Engineering, at the end of February a student of Mathematics became ill during the occupations and now the 20-year-old student is sick.
