Nemo: “I’m in Greece for the first time, and I love it,” says the Eurovision winner

He will perform at this year's MadWalk event

Newsroom December 2 10:00

Nemo is in Greece since Sunday evening for a special appearance at this year’s MadWalk.

After winning last year’s Eurovision, Nemo received an invitation to perform his new song, “Eurostar,” on stage at the event, which combines music and fashion.

Before his performance, he visited a central hotel in Athens, where he was presented with a platinum award for the sales of his winning song “Code” in Greece.

In an interview before the MadWalk 2024 event, Nemo shared his thoughts with cameras, saying, “I’m really happy to be in Greece.” He added, “Let’s meet and talk. I think many people fear or hate things they don’t know, but when we truly meet each other and create space for one another, we might be surprised by how well we get along.”

He also said, “One thing that remains unchanged is the people around me. I may have met many new people recently, but those in my close circle have always been the same over the years. For example, my family is very close, and I believe that will stay the same.”

Regarding his title as the first “non-binary” person to win Eurovision, he stated, “It was the greatest honor of my life. For the queer community to see me, and for others to understand that we need this too.”

Finally, he mentioned that this is his first time in Greece. “It’s my first time, but I love it. Everyone told me it was the worst time to visit because it was raining, but I think there is never a bad time. I love it, I like the people I see on the streets. You are very open people, and it’s clear. People make you want to approach them and talk to them,” he concluded.

The event, which combines music and fashion, will host top Greek designers, artists, and exciting performances at the Closed Arena of Paleo Faliro. The fashion show will be presented by Vicky Kaya, and Evelin Kazantzoglou will take on the role of fashion partner. The audience at MadWalk 2024 by Three Cents will watch catwalks featuring creations by Greek designers and fashion brands, with artistic performances from famous artists.
