Thriller over homeless man’s death in Athens restaurant – Staff moved body to mislead authorities

Owner and two employees arrested – Police investigating all possible scenarios

Newsroom March 26 05:25

Authorities have been grappling over the past 24 hours with a chilling case involving the mysterious death of an elderly homeless man inside a restaurant in central Athens.

As protothema.gr reveals, the incident occurred two days ago when the Hellenic Police (ELAS) were alerted that a man was lying dead outside a restaurant in central Athens. Officers quickly arrived at the scene and found an elderly man with a head injury, unconscious and covered in blood.

Slipped, fell, and suffered fatal injuries
The restaurant owner reportedly told police that the man had been outside the establishment when he suddenly lost his balance, fell, and fatally injured himself. However, his claims were quickly contradicted by footage from the restaurant’s security cameras.

The video reportedly showed restaurant staff carrying the unconscious man outside the premises, leaving him on the ground in front of the restaurant, and then mopping the area inside.

Faced with obvious questions, both the owner and two employees changed their story, claiming they had recently mopped the floor when the man entered, tried to go to the basement restroom, slipped, fell, and suffered fatal injuries. They further stated that they moved him outside and cleaned the area to avoid being blamed for the incident.

All three—owner and employees—were arrested, with police now investigating all possible scenarios. One of them is that the man entered the restaurant and was pushed by the owner or an employee in an attempt to remove him, causing him to fall and suffer fatal injuries.
