Weather: Warning for northerly winds up to 8 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea from Thursday to Saturday

Meteorologists are sounding the bell for intensified winds that will hit Greece in the coming days.

Today the winds in the Aegean may not exceed 5 to 6 Beaufort, but the late north winds will dominate until Saturday, with intensities at 7 to 8 Beaufort, according to meteorologist Panagiotis Giannopoulos, resulting in a temperature drop of 2 to 3 degrees.

In more detail, today will be clear the weather in the country, with a few clouds in the north and some sparse clouds. Winds will blow from the north and in the Aegean Sea and in the northern Ionian Sea locally up to 6 Beaufort.

The temperature in the north will reach 28 to 30 degrees Celsius and in the rest of the country 29 to 33 and locally 34 degrees in the western mainland. In Attica the temperature is expected to be sunny and up to 32 degrees.

In Thessaloniki the weather will also be clear. The temperature will range up to 30 degrees. From Thursday, the maximum temperature in Athens will be 28 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius in Thessaloniki.

The weather today

Clear weather is expected across most of the country with cloudy skies in the central and northern areas. Local showers with a chance of thunderstorms after the afternoon hours in An. Macedonia and Thrace.

The temperature will range in Western Macedonia from 11 to 29 degrees Celsius, in the rest of Macedonia and Thrace from 10 to 31-32 degrees Celsius, in Thessaly from 12 to 34-35 degrees Celsius, in Epirus from 11 to 31-33 degrees Celsius, in the rest of the mainland from 12 to 33 degrees Celsius, in the Ionian Islands from 17 to 31 degrees Celsius, in the Aegean islands and in Crete from 17 to 32-33 degrees Celsius.

The winds in the Aegean will blow from general northern directions with intensities up to 4-5 Beaufort and locally 6 Beaufort with a tendency to strengthen from the north in the evening hours. In the Ionian Sea the winds will blow generally northwest with intensities up to 4-5 Beaufort and locally up to 6 Beaufort.

In Attica clear weather is expected. Winds will blow from various directions with intensities up to 2-3 Beaufort, while a significant strengthening of winds from northern directions is expected from the early morning hours of Thursday. The temperature will range from 23 to 31 degrees Celsius.

In Thessaloniki the weather is expected to be generally clear with some clouds. Winds will blow from northwestern directions with intensities up to 4-5 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 22 to 30 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Thursday, September 18

Generally clear weather in most areas. Occasional local clouds are forecast until noon in Chalkidiki, Thessaly, Evia, eastern Sterea and Peloponnese and from the afternoon in the western Peloponnese where local rain or rain showers will occur.

Winds will blow from the north 4 to 6 Beaufort, in the sea 6 to 7 and from the afternoon in the Aegean Sea locally 8 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop mainly in the east. It will reach 31 to 33 degrees Celsius in the west and the Dodecanese, 28 to 30 degrees Celsius in the rest of the mainland, while in the Aegean islands it will not exceed 28 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Friday, September 19

Generally clear weather with occasional local clouds in Crete.

Winds in the west will blow from an easterly direction at 4 to 6 Beaufort. In the east it will blow north northeast 4 to 6 Beaufort and in the Aegean Sea 7 and locally 8 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop slightly in the south.

The weather on Saturday, September 20

Generally clear weather with a few local clouds in the eastern mainland and Crete.

Winds in the west will blow from an easterly direction at 4 to 5 Beaufort. In the east will blow north northeast 4 to 6 Beaufort and in the Aegean Sea 7 and locally until the afternoon 8 Beaufort.

The temperature will not change significantly.

The weather on Sunday, September 21

Generally clear weather with a few local clouds in the eastern mainland and Crete.
