A large police operation took place in Switzerland following an Islamist knife attack at the railway station in the city of Winterthur, in which three people were injured (one seriously and two lightly).
According to local media, the attacker — a 31-year-old — was heard shouting “Allahu Akbar” during the incident, which means it’s yet another Islamic attack.
Eyewitnesses said the attack occurred shortly before 08:30 on Thursday morning. Shortly afterward, the attacker was arrested at the railway station.
A passerby who spoke to the Swiss newspaper Blick said: “I heard a man behind me shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ five or six times in a very intense and agitated manner.”
According to the newspaper 20 Minuten, a group of students was passing through the station at the time of the attack, while their teacher reportedly stood in front of the children to protect them.
Strong police and emergency response units rushed to the scene, and the area around the station was cordoned off by police.
