A man stabbed in front of the Sévigné private Catholic high school in Marseille at around 6pm on May 10th, when he went to pick up his children, died of his injuries.
He was taken to hospital in very critical condition. The victim had suffered several knife wounds and was hit in the neck area. He was in cardiac arrest at the time of his treatment by the emergency services.
The 23-year-old man who attacked him, shouted that he acted “in the name of Allah”, apparently following the Qur’an order 47:4 which reads: “When you meet the unbelievers, strike the necks”.
The victim, a military doctor, left behind a widow and three children.
